A firewall is a double edged sword... it "protects" exploitable services, but is also an exploitable service itself.

I prefer to simply shut off external services, rather than add another.

Of course the other big argument in favor of a non ICF firewall is outbound filtering...but why do you need it when you have full control over what comes in? As long as you use IE and configure it properly, you cannot get malware... Simply use the internet zones, and remove execute permission from the local settings folder.|||An excellent free and extremely strong firewall is Comodo Personal Firewall. It can pass firewall "leak tests" that even most of the "paid-for" firewalls cannot pass.
