How do I make myself to appear offline in Gtalk, while I am online, like Windows Live Messenger?

I would like to have the same effect that I am having with my Windows Live Messenger but with Google's Gtalk, because a lot of my Gtalk contacts are seen me and I dont want them to see me but I want to see them.
