Can't chat with Windows Live User?

I just installed Yahoo! Messenger and signed up for the Windows Live Beta. When trying to add a Windows Live Contact I get the following message.."There was an error in the server while trying to add a contact. Please try again." Been trying and it doesn't work. Also, my Windows Live Messenger friend sends me an invitation to my Yahoo! email address and I do not receive it. I get all my other emails but not his invitation that he sent via Windows Live Messenger. Anybody else having this problem? Does this even work? Thanks!
