Did you buy it? If not, you probably don't have it.
You can get a trail version from http://www.microsoft.com/office/

Update: No, you don't have to buy Word to open the file. You can use a trial version of Word or compatible software to open it.|||Come on, you've got a computer, use it. Search - type in the search box 'Microsoft Word' You will get a big surprise by a free offer of downloading the service. Don't be frightened it wont bite you. Good Luck.|||When you buy computers, it is very rare that you would be given Office, or even Word, remember its comparatively expensive. What you will probably have is Microsoft Works.Possibly though, you could right click on the icon and change the suffix of the file name to .rtf or .txt and try to open it in Wordpad or Notepad which you will undoubtedly have. However, changing it to this format will mean you lose any formatting but I would give it a go to see if it can be opened and is not completely corrupt.
