My xbox 360 save data at my friends? or lost? Please help.?

Hey guys, I put my xbox live gamertag on the 64mb memory unit, took it to a friends house...and played halo 3 for a bit...i got home and put my gamertag onto my xbox...all my save games were GONE! I checked my memory card, and my friends console...but xbox support said put my profile back onto my friends xbox, they might be there...but my friend is on holiday, plus i don't wanna waste a trip to his house, so will that what microsoft support said work? Please help me...thanks!!!
