My tv tuner remote for my XP system dosent work anymore?

The only thing i can find for sure is that the "Microsoft eHome Infared Transceiver" driver is showing a error code 10 in the "Device Manager. Here is what i have done to try to fix it.

I have tryed everything on the microsoft support website, which was to uninstall the driver via device manager, and leave the USB receiver pluged in.

I noticed that I had the trouble when i tryed to use the turner remote with my PC and nothing worked, the light on the receiver blinks like it is suppost to but nothing happends.

Now I am almost sure that the trouble started when I reinstalled my OS with the disk that came with the comuter when i bought it. Then I updated the whole computer via microsoft update (i think that was my mistake) I have tryed to reload my OS again but it still didnt work.

PLEASE HELP ME

I have Win XP Media Edition

1 gb ram

PC is almost one year old
