right now I want XP because my brother got a new pc and most of his programs don'nt work with vista. My question is how much longer will Microsoft support XP for? Also for the new games that come out for vista how long will the new games support XP?

Well, Microsoft plans on supporting Win2000 until July 2010. So it's a safe bet that XP will be supported for some time. Also, like all new Microsoft products, Vista will take some time before the bugs and security issues will be worked out.

So, if you want a reliable OS, stick with XP which is based on the Windows NT file system. And by the time Microsoft has Vista running well, all the game companies will have updates for your favorite games.

Vista vs. XP, we all no eventually Vista will win the fight, but right now XP is a much friendly OS to use and has much more support. With the High demands that Vista asks for It slows down Most Machines. I have used both. ultimately I went Back to XP. let us weigh pros and cons of vista vs. xp.
