I have a problem with my laptop (hp, pavilion zx 5000, winds xp) and i need to fix the registry because it won't let me reeboot the system (it says something about a file damaged or missing, windows\system32\config\system) but i checked the microsoft support web page and it says how to repair the error but that you shouldn't try to fix it if your pc has an operating system installed by an OEM but how do i know whether it is OEM or not??!! I checked all the tags and labels on the laptop and nothing about oep! help! thanks in advance

Retail means you bought it retail, in a shop, like you had a laptop with vista on it and you realised it sucked, so went and bought XP....Corporate (the third and final kind) is only if you buy like 100 copies and they give you one disc to install with one serial for all machines
