my file is on the desktop, i go to windows movie maker and try to upload that video on the desktop (RMVB FORMAT) and it doesnt even show the video. is rmvb not compatible???

no it is not an supported format by windows movie maker. Those formats are supported by the software.

.asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

So you will need to convert your file.

Go to www.download.com and do a search for video converters. If you want something free, use the advanced search to narrow down your search and find free softwares only or go to www.freewarefiles.com and do a search there.
