Converting a Sony camcorder's files to be compatible with Windows Movie Maker?

I own a Sony DVD video camera. I can't stand using Nero to edit, I prefer the simple drag and drop of Windows Movie Maker. The video from my camera is, of course, not compatible with the program. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

I use both softwares. Nero has a drag & drop feature as well as wmm.

If you just need to convert a file, you can use Nero to convert a file. Load your file to Nero, select export, select custom, choose avi, mpeg 1 or 2, etc.... Save. Then open the file in wmm.
