I really need help. I think he is doing some things i don't agree with and i was wondering if there was any way that i could find out what he was posting on his windows live messenger without him finding out and i can't even guess what his password might be.

For a more technical answer, you could run a packet sniffer (such as Wireshark) on your network and grab all the Messenger traffic as it flows across the network.

This method requires more work and a greater understanding than the previously mentioned options but it has the advantage of happening in real-time (as he types, you will see it, rather than having to wait), not requiring you to have access to his computer (if it's not a shared computer) and being completely undetectable.

Whatever method you choose to use, I might also recommend approaching the subject carefully with your nephew. He will most probably feel betrayed and you may lose a great deal of his trust if he thinks you are following around after him spying on what he does.
