I REAALLY need this help. I've been trying this for MONTHS and it STILL doesn't work. I've been trying to sign in to windows live messenger 8.1, and it didn't work- error code 80072efd EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!!! I searched EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! I searched on the msn help place they told me to fix my firewall settings and my internet explorer proxy settings, I did, and nothing changed. I searched everywhere on the stupid internet, and they all say the same thing and I reaallllyyyyy nEED help! PLZ!!! some expert please!!!!!!!???

Did you also include the MSn in the exceptions of your antivirus?? check this out..

Check the .NET Messenger Service Status.

Remove any Internet Explorer proxy server settings

In Internet Explorer, click Tools and then click Internet Options.

In the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab.

Click LAN Settings…

Untick the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) checkbox.

Click OK and OK again Internet Options
