How do I get rid of IE 7 and revert to IE 6?

I know there are a few questions like this, and the best answer I found went like this.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP:

Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."

Click "Add or Remove Programs."

Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.

Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove."

Well, when I did that, everything seemed fine, until I accessed websites. I couldn't type anywhere...like I could access google.com, but I couldn't type anything in the search engine. I couldn't type on any websites. Search engines were accessable, but unusable. I hope I explained that well, it's kinda confusing.

Then, when I tried to system restore it, system restore wouldn't run properly.

So, in the end, I had to re-install IE 7.

Is my computer some sort of special case that makes me doomed to use IE 7, or is there something else I can do?

Why are you using IE at all you should be using Firefox. IE 7 is ten times better than IE 6. But ether way IE sucks. Anything but IE. If you don't like Firefox try another browser maybe netscape.
