So I asked a few people about the ending of the phantom of the opera. Who is the guy and the girl in the flashbacks? they think the guy was the phantom but that doesn't make sense cuz he doesn't have a deformed face in the flashbacks. I thought the lady was christine till the end where he puts the music box on the grave.

The old woman is Meg, Christine's blond friend, who found the music box in the underground cavern. And the guy was Raoul. We know this because during the auction he was called by his title (Viscount de Chagny), if I remember correctly.

The lady was the blond girl, Christine's friend. The man was the blond guy she chose over the phantom. I can't remember either of their names at the moment, it's been a while since I've watched it. The rose on the grave at the end of the movie is an indication that the phantom still loves her/comes to visit her grave, though.|||The man is Raoul (Christine died 1st) and the woman is Meg.|||The old guy deff was not Phantom. Your right, he would have a deformity and as you saw at the end of the movie, he left. It is Raoul de Chagny whom Christine married. The old lady is not actually Meg, it is her mother, Madame Giry. I know it sounds weird because Madame Giry was older already in the movie but it is her. it says so on the script. You can tell it's the same person i was like "whaat" when I heard that because I always thought it was Meg but I was wrong.
