My daughter saw Wicked a couple months ago and wanted to read the novel which inspired the stage hit, but I was horrified at the amounts of unneccesary adult material. Not too long ago we saw The Phantom of the Opera and she wants to read that novel as well. Is there anything to adult in that book to not let my 14 year old daughter read?
Phantom of the Opera Novel?microsoft office 2003I don't think that there was anything in Phantom too risque. Remember that book was written in ye olde days so it would not have been too acceptable for Leroux to publish material.
Personally, I like the musical better than the book.
Good Luck

You need to browse the book by yourself and check if there are adult contents on the book. Try to discourage her if there is and she already watched the Phantom. Was it on stage or the movie. The movie was great (made me cry). lol.|||I haven't read it in a few years, but I don't remember any actual sexual material. That being said, I would bet that what she is exposed to in the Wicked nobel is nothing compared to what she is seeing on TV or hearing (or even seeing) in school. She is 14 and should know what sex and sexual desire is, and if you have done a good job of raising her, the content of a novel shouldn't be a problem.|||No, not at all. I believe I was 15 when I read it and I don't recall anything rated even PG-13. There might have been some language, but as far as adult material, it was fine. The classics usually aren't too bad. Quite different from the movie, but still a good book.|||The Phantom of the Opera is a classic novel.
It is well worth your time to read it.
I have read my copy many times.
There is nothing offensive in the novel; it is a fascinating story and the ending is very touching.
